ALEXANDRA KAREN ALERTE FUND
Alexandra Karen Elisabeth Leslie Alerte had an extraordinary life. Born in Bordeaux (France), she grew up in New York (United States) before settling in London (United Kingdom), where she died on December 1, 2022. A girl from big cities, Alexandra had a unique personality, with a deeply compassionate heart, qualities that marked all her social interactions.
She led a life of trials due to Hodgkin’s disease, diagnosed at the age of five. Throughout her life, she suffered the after-effects of her treatment, including repeated surgeries, radiotherapy treatments, and later, complications such as deafness, endometriosis and a manic-depressive syndrome that eventually took her life. Despite countless challenges and almost insurmountable difficulties, Alexandra radiated joy, generosity, compassion and, above all, a keen sense of social justice that animated all her actions.
Our family has a long tradition of social commitment and service. Alexandra fully committed herself to this path with determination, without fanfare or boasting. In her absence, it seemed natural, even imperative, to continue to bring her ideals to life.
It is in this spirit, and to perpetuate her memory, that we created the ALEXANDRA KAREN ALERTE FUND, whose objective is to financially support young girls from the Haitian diaspora choosing to pursue careers in the arts (dance, photography, music, culinary arts included), social justice, or journalism and public relations.

Alexandra Karen Alerte/FSM Scholarship
The managers of the Alexandra Karen Alerte Fund (FAKA) in cooperation with the Saint-Martial Foundation (FSM), initiated a collaboration agreement on June 29, 2024, establishing the Alexandra Karen Alerte Scholarship – FSM, to provide educational financial assistance to young Haitian girls living in Haiti or abroad, who have great difficulty undertaking or continuing studies at the post-secondary level because of their precarious socio-economic situation.
Under this agreement, the FSM provides FAKA managers with an appropriate administrative framework to manage the collection of donations and the allocation of scholarships to beneficiaries selected according to the expectations, objectives and criteria agreed between the two parties.
